aced with the inadequacy of oriental dance costumes, Rakiya decided to create her own design.

Little by little, she developed her own oriental dance clothing line.

Being used to classical dance costumes, their comfort, their lightness and especially the ease with which they can be put on, Rakiya wanted to recreate these costumes while combining practicality and beauty!

What's more, the classicism of most costumes on the market didn't meet her expectations; too conventional and too neat, they were not representative of her dancing and the vision she wanted to portray.

Her creations definitely set themselves as being part of her style; surprising and original!

These creations are characterized by a disconcerting mix where, once again, extremes meet to create the unexpected. Inspired by her own dancing, she pens surprising costumes where the ancient unites with the new, where the mix of colours and patterns appear to be in a time lag with costumes currently available on the market. When she draws a design, she never neglects comfort or practicality and she always keeps the movements to be executed in mind.

During the creation of a costume on demand, the meeting with the dancer is what will determine the design. Guided by the personality of the dancer, the choice of music and the dance, Rakiya is able to define the style of costume that will 'fit' the dancer. These creations respect the balance between the music, the style of dance and the artist. Furthermore, she recommends a particular use and a specific costume choice based on the desired effect such as for example, letting the costumes fade over music that is rich in emotions while imposing them over light and lively music.

The costume should not take precedence over the dancer, it should not camouflage her, it should instead emphasize her presence and touch the audience. This perfectly summarizes the creative line of the 'made in Rakiya' costumes.
